We have a brand new position doing just that. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and leading our technical research and testing teams, the Senior Technical Specialist will improve upon and develop new technologies for contaminant removal and resource recovery from water impacted by mining activities, metallurgical process streams, and industrial wastewater. 

Job Description: Technology and Business Development (BD) 
- Work closely with the CTO, lab, and engineering teams to identify, develop, test, and commercialize new technologies and improve existing technologies for contaminant removal and resource recovery 
- Prepare test plans, execute and deliver on technology development plans once developed Interact with potential users of new technologies to understand needs and gather feedback 
- Provide direct technical supervision and oversight to lab and pilot test programs Write, review and edit technical documentation including lab reports and technical papers 
Corporate technical expert 
- Build strong relationships with staff and clients, and be viewed as one of the “go-to” people within the organization for technology application questions 
- Be a key technical resource for the engineering, laboratory, and sales teams Lead and mentor technical teams to develop and improve technologies, and establish technical standards 
- Occasionally travel to project sites around the world 
Competitive analysis and Intellectual Property (IP) 
- Perform technical and economic assessments of water treatment technologies to identify fatal flaws, advantages and disadvantages, and areas of best and worst fits; monitor industry trends in order to anticipate and react to changes in technology or technology drivers 
- Participate in IP strategy reviews 
- Perform patent searches and detailed technical IP surveys of existing and potential competitors 
- Draft patent disclosures as required 
Technical sales support 
- Along with the CTO and sales group, identify current and future market gaps and address how these gaps can be filled by the organization 
- Provide input and/or write technical sections of sales proposals, including test proposals 

Required Skills: - Graduate degree in chemical engineering, hydrometallurgy, or mineral processing 
- 10 years+ of mining or mineral processing experience, including 5 years+ in process development or applied research and development/technology commercialization and/or 3 years + involvement in pilot testing 
- Strong understanding of/experience with flowsheets and flowsheet development in mining and minerals processing applications 
- Proven ability to scale up a process from laboratory size to field to commercial size 
- Excellent analytical, facilitation and communication skills 
- Can-do attitude – you can always find a way to make things work 
- You, like us, are not afraid to speak your mind and play with new ideas and solutions 
- Commissioning and/or plant operation experience is a considerable asset 
- Patent research experience is an asset 
- Experience and interest leading and mentoring a group of bright engineers
